Conversion outcomes vary
Results depend on the source image, browser, encoder implementation, quality settings, available memory, color handling, and destination software. A smaller file is not automatically a better file.
Keep original files
Retain an untouched source before converting, compressing, or removing metadata. A lossy conversion cannot reconstruct discarded detail, and a new encode may remove information that mattered to your workflow.
Browser and device limits
Large images or batches may exceed memory available to a browser tab. Older browsers may lack required WebP decoding or encoding support. Unsupported operations are reported where the implementation can detect them.
Educational content
Guides are written for practical information and are reviewed against technical sources where possible. They are not legal, security, accessibility, or professional consulting advice.
